Rachel S. Amadio, 88
YOUNGSTOWN Rachel S. Amadio, 88, of 2493 Frostwood Dr., died Saturday evening at Brookdale Clare Bridge in Austintown.
Mrs. Amadio was born in Struthers Dec. 20, 1918, a daughter of John Struthers and Alice Rex Stewart.
She was a 1939 graduate of Struthers High School and attended the Free Methodist Community Church in New Middletown.
Mrs. Amadio enjoyed playing the harp and playing bridge. She was an excellent gourmet cook and seamstress.
Mrs. Amadios husband, John Tony, worked for the Marion Power Shovel Co., and after he retired from the military, she enjoyed traveling the world with him to Pakistan, Turkey, Germany and all throughout Europe. She loved the adventure of traveling through foreign lands.
She is survived by her husband, John Tony Amadio, whom she married May 16, 1939; one son, Paul T. (Rae) Amadio of Cary, N.C., and five grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ellen Mangis; and one brother, Rev. Wilfred Stewart.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers, where services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m.
Interment will follow at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
