John C. “Jack” Smith, 73

YOUNGSTOWN - John C. “Jack” Smith, 73, passed away Monday evening at his home after a lengthy illness. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jack was born March 19, 1933 in Steubenville, a son of the late Frank and Margaret Coyne Smith, and came to this area in the 1950s.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and worked for G.F. Business Systems for 17 years, retiring in 1990.
Mr. Smith was a member of St. Brendan Church, the Army and Navy Garrison No. 360 and was an avid sports fan and follower of the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He leaves his wife, Patricia Williams Smith, whom he married July 28, 1962; five children, Jacqueline (Chris) Costanzo of Columbiana, John C. Smith Jr. of Youngstown, Darlene (Mike) Donatelli of Lowellville, Daniel (Tricia) Smith of Perrysburg and Barry (Andrea) Smith of Youngstown; three sisters, Mary (Don) Lariccia of Austintown, Dorothy (Paul) Chismark of Girard and Janet Smith of Austintown; a brother Frank (Carmen) Smith of Baltimore; and nine grandchildren, Jason, Amanda, David and Bradley Smith, Christopher and Maria Costanzo, Michael Donatelli, Taylor Jones and Daniel Smith.
A brother, Tom Smith, and a granddaughter, Megan Costanzo, are deceased.
Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road in Youngstown.
Funeral services will begin at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, and continue at 1 p.m. at St. Brendan Church.
Committal services will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
