Edward Shorty Parkman, 82
YOUNGSTOWN There will be a funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Third Baptist Church for Edward Shorty Parkman, 82, who departed this life Monday at Danridge Burgundi Manor.
Mr. Parkman was born Sept. 28, 1924 in Youngstown, a son of Rand Sr. and Lizzie Parker Parkman.
He retired from the U.S. Post Office, was Maitre D at Tippecanoe Country Club, was manager of the Youngstown Club, and owner/operator of the Elks Place. He was a member of the church and its board of trustees. He was a WWII Navy veteran.
His wife, the former Myrtle L. Cookie Robinson, whom he married July 27, 1948, died March 19, 1990.
He leaves a daughter, Wendy J. Moore of Houston; three sisters, Dorothy Hopkins and Marilyn (Frank) Wright, both of Youngstown and Callie (Hunter) Posey of Detroit; a brother, Rand (Darnella) Parkman Jr. of Macon, Ga.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur, John and Ralph Parkman; and three sisters, Mattie Clinkscale, Ruth Turnage and Connie Eaddy.
Viewing will be from noon to 4 p.m. today at the F.D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church where the Masonic memorial service will be at 9:30 a.m.
