Joseph R. Michael, 79
BOARDMAN Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the Fox Funeral Home and 10:30 in Saint Dominic Church for Joseph R. Michael, 79, who died Thursday afternoon at Saint Elizabeth Health Center.
Mr. Michael was born May 1, 1927, in Youngstown, a son of Samuel and Alma Khoury Michael.
He was a 1945 graduate of Ursuline High School and a graduate of Youngstown State University. He sold donuts from the time he was 15 years of age till he was 44 and was known as The Donut Man. He then worked briefly as a real estate agent and for the past 33 years worked as an insurance agent for the Knights of Columbus.
Joe was a member of St. Dominic Church where he went to Mass daily. He was a 4th degree knight with the Knights of Columbus Council No. 274. He was a Cardinal Mooney High School Booster. Joe was a big Notre Dame and New York Yankee fan and loved golf.
Besides his wife, the former Nancy M. Tinkler, whom he married Aug. 24, 1954, he leaves a son, David (Marilyn) Michael of Rocky River; four daughters, Meg (Greg) Hildebrandt and Marie (Denio) Leone, both of Rocky River, Anne (Glenn) Daly of Shrewsbury, Mass., and Mary Therese (Kevin) Konrad of Rocky River; two brothers, Eddie Michael of Newport News, Va., and Willie Michael of Austintown; a sister Mary Karkafi of North Lima; and 14 grandchildren, Sarah, Joe and Liz Michael, Ellie, Ian and Alex Hildebrandt, Annie, Denio, Mary and John Leone, Mary Therese and Patrick Daly, Katie and Michael Konrad.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Rose Meena, Amy Nassar and Ada Michael, and a brother, Freddie Michael.
Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
