Thomas Kolesar, 88

BOARDMAN – There will be services Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Rossi Bros. Funeral Home in Boardman and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Youngstown, for Thomas Kolesar, 88, who passed away Sunday morning.
Thomas was born June 2, 1918 in Youngstown, the son of John and Ann (Dulovic) Kolesar.
He retired from LTV Steel, where he worked in the shipping and scheduling office of the coal strip mill for more than 30 years. He was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church and the AFL-CIO bowling league. He was a graduate of South High School and a past trustee of the AFL-CIO.
Thomas served as a Technician 4th Grade with the U.S. Army during WWII. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with a Bronze Star, the American Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Ribbon for his service in Burma, India.
He enjoyed watching all sports, especially the Cleveland Indians.
His wife, the former Madeline Hrinko, whom he married July 14, 1947, passed away Dec. 20, 1993.
He will always be remembered by his two daughters, Carolyn (John) Kordupel and Janet Ambrosio (James) Rice; three grandchildren, James, Gina and Stephen Ambrosio; a sister, Agnes Roble of Largo, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers John and Frank Kolesar; and a sister, Ann Thurik.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where a Panachida Prayer Service will be held at 5 p.m.
