John Crowll, 85
BOARDMAN Services will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell and at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen of Hungary Church on Wilson Avenue in Youngstown for John Crowll, who passed away Friday at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.
Mr. Crowll was born Oct. 2, 1921 in Campbell, son of John and Margaret (Cybak) Crowll.
He retired from the Koppers Co. after 36 years, serving as a chemist and supervisor.
He graduated from Campbell High School in 1939 and attended Youngstown State University, where he received a degree in chemistry.
A veteran of WWII, Mr. Crowll made the crossing on the Queen Mary and arrived D-day plus 18 and was awarded four bronze stars as well as various campaign medals. He served at the rank of sergeant.
He was a member of St. Stephen of Hungary Church, where he was a member of the silver and gold club. Mr. Crowll supported several charities.
His wife, Irene Nagy, whom he married Jan. 5, 1948, is deceased, as is his sister, Ann Duchek of Campbell.
He leaves two sons, Bryan Crowll of Poland and John Lee Crowll of Virginia; his daughter, Elizabeth Crowll-Rodriguez, formerly a resident of New Mexico, had resided with him for the last several years.
Friends and family may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home in Campbell.
