Leon Carlton Croft, 77

YOUNGSTOWN – Services will be Tuesday at 1p.m. at the L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home for Mr. Leon Carlton Croft, 77, who departed this life Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Mr. Croft was born April 4, 1929 in Youngstown, the son of Robert and Ella Moon Croft, and was the middle child of 10 siblings and the last surviving member.
Leon was a 1948 graduate of Youngstown East High School and received a scholarship to the Cleveland Institute of Art. Later, he returned home to assist his widowed mother. He joined the labor force and worked for Youngstown Sheet & Tube (LTV), retiring in 1979.
He married his beloved wife, the former Alfreda Elaine Carter, Sept. 9, 1960, and on April 13, 1961, they welcomed a son, Monte, who would share their love and affection.
Leon loved art and was proud of his artistic ability, and he enjoyed debating various issues. He was an avid sports fan and spent time on financial affairs.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted wife, Alfreda; his son, Monte and wife Barbara Brandon Croft of Queens, N.Y.; his grandson, eight-year-old Chase Ian Croft; and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Robbie, Evangeline, Mildred, Juanita and Helen; and four brothers, Rudy, Harold, Warren and Frederick.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 12 to 1 p.m. at the funeral home
