J Robert Oliver, 51

GREEN TOWNSHIP – J Robert Oliver, 51, of Green Township, passed away at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007 in his home with his family by his side after a long and courageous battle with melanoma.
J was born Aug. 26, 1955 in Youngstown, the son of Myron C. and Ferne E. (Gnagy) Oliver.
He was a 1973 graduate of South Range High School and retired in 2007 from Schwabels Bakery, where he had been a baker for the last 30 years.
J was a very active member of Greenford Lutheran Church, a member of AMA (Aircraft Modelers Association, a member of Short Circuts of Berlin Center, and a former member and past president of the Greenford Ruritan Club. He loved to golf, built his own family home, and enjoyed the art of photography for many years.
A loving husband, father, brother, son and friend, J is survived by his wife, the former Deborah Lynn Mullen, whom he married June 18, 1977; his mother, Ferne of Greenford; three children, Jason Michael, Jared Matthew, and Jenna Meridith, all of the home; one sister, Janice Knittle of Boardman; three brothers, Jeff Oliver of Twinsburg, Jon Oliver of Harrisonburg, Va., and Jerry Oliver of Winthrop, Wash.; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
J was preceded in death by his father.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel.
There will be a funeral service Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007 at 11a.m. in Greenford Lutheran Church, where friends may call one hour prior in the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Greenford Lutheran Memorial Fund.
