Frieda Martz, 91
BOARDMAN - There will be services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Old North Church for Frieda Martz, 91, who passed away Wednesday at her home.
Frieda was born Dec. 16, 1915 in Germany, a daughter of William and Frieda Rausch Roth.
Frieda was a 1934 graduate of Chaney High School and was valedictorian of her class. She lettered all four years in all around sports and was president of the National Honors Society.
She worked at YSU as an office manager/executive secretary for the Dean of Arts and Sciences for more than 20 years, retiring in 1986.
She was secretary of her high school reunion committee and a member of the Eastern Star and was a Cub Scout Leader.
She was active for many years in YO-MAH-O Secretary Organization, YSU Retirees and at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in the Marion Circle. She was also a member of Su Jetts Bridge Club, which was formed while they where in junior high and stayed together for more than 50 years. She attended the Old North Church.
Her husband, Roy S. Martz Jr., to whom she was happily married, passed away in 1962.
Frieda leaves her children, Audrey Henshaw of Youngstown, Roy (Blanca) Martz III of Austin, Texas, Jeanne (Michael) Cummings of Canfield and Nancy Dillon of Boardman; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Frieda was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, William Roth Jr.
Family and friends may call today from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel and Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
