Sarah E. Smith, 85

YOUNGSTOWN – There will be services at 11 a.m. Monday at the Liberty Presbyterian Church for Sarah E. Smith, 85, who passed away Thursday evening at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Mrs. Smith was born July 24, 1921 in Irwin, Pa., a daughter of William F. and Laura C. Steiner McNelly and came to this area in 1960 from Warren where she had moved the previous year.
She was employed by Sturgeons Market on Elm Street for 18 years and retired in 1990. She was a Korean War Air Force veteran.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the church, an Elder and a member of the choir. She volunteered at the Rescue Mission, was a Girl Scout Leader, a graduate of Norwin High School in Irwin Pa., and enjoyed needlepoint, gardening and loved to feed the birds and squirrels.
Her husband, Fred W. Smith Sr., whom she married Sept. 12, 1953, passed away May 12, 1992.
Mrs. Smith is survived by two sons, Regis and his wife Susan of Youngstown and Fred Jr. of Coconut Creek, Fla.; a daughter, Cheryl with whom she made her home; a sister, Martha McNelly of North Huningdon, Pa.; and three grandchildren, Sam, Anita and Natalie.
Beside her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Arthur, Frank, Clarence and Charles McNelly; and a sister, Mary Staymates.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at The McCauley Funeral Home and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church.
