Robert “Bob” Edward Tomm, 78

HERMITAGE, PA. – There will be services Saturday, Jan. 27 at 11 a.m. at Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 5130 E. State St. in Hermitage, with the Rev. Richard C. Rowe officiating, for Robert “Bob” Edward Tomm, 78, who passed away Thursday morning, Jan. 18, at UPMC Horizon in Farrell.
Mr. Tomm was born Oct. 6, 1928 in Pittsburgh to Edward and Margaret Patterson Tomm.
He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1953 with a degree in sociology.
Bob married the former Margaret Egan on July 10, 1954. They moved in 1966 to the Shenango Valley, where until his retirement, he worked as the director of continuing education for the Shenango Campus of Penn State University in Sharon.
From the age of 14 until his passing, Bob was a church organist and choir director for several churches locally and in Pittsburgh. Throughout his retirement, he was also a piano technician and tuner.
Bob is survived by his wife at home; a son, Douglas Cameron Tomm of Sunnyvale, Calif.; and a daughter, Erica Ruth McCracken, and son-in-law Mark McCracken, both of Sharpsville, Pa.; he also leaves behind his former daughter-in-law, Vicky Xu; and his beloved granddaughter, Olivia Margaret Tomm, both of Milpitas, Calif.
Bob had a deep love for animals and was an avid reader.

Arrangements are being handled by the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home in Sharon.
