John J. Getsy, 81

YOUNGSTOWN – There will be services at 11 a.m. Friday at the Fox Funeral Home in Boardman for John J. Getsy, 81, who died Sunday morning at The Meridian Arms Living Center.
Mr. Getsy was born Feb. 14, 1926 in Patton, Pa., a son of Michael and Mary Martisian Getsy.
He worked for 33 years for Saramar Aluminum in Warren, as a security guard at St. Moritz and also he worked at Idora Park and the Elms Ballroom. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Temple. He was a U.S. Navy veteran during WWII.
He is survived by his wife, the former Edna Mae Dixon, whom he married Aug. 18, 1966; a daughter, Mary (Bob) Conti of Salem; his son, Michael (Lucille ) Getsy of Canfield; a brother, George (Jean) Getsy of Youngstown; five grandchildren, Dr. Michael G. Getsy, Dr. Janine (Dr. Michael) Cayavec, Eric Getsy, Melynda Conti and Stephen Conti; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, Pauline Falatic, Sue Maczko, Andy Getsy and Mary Marinin; and a nephew, Andrew Falatic.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
