Katherine M. Perry, 93

CORTLAND – Katherine M. Perry, 93, formerly of North Lima, passed away at Cortland Healthcare Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at 9:35 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2008, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Perry was born in Youngstown, on Oct. 14, 1914, the daughter of Homer and Margaret (Roys) Whan.
Katherine was a graduate of Youngstown State and taught English at North Lima High School and remedial reading at New Springfield Elementary School, retiring in 1979.
Mrs. Perry was an active member of the Mount Olivet United Church of Christ in North Lima. She was also a member of Searchlight and two card clubs.
Katherine enjoyed traveling, camping, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Perry was preceded in death by her husband, Homer E. Perry on June 15, 2000, whom she married on May 24, 1941.
Katherine is survived by two sons, Edward (Donna) D. Perry of Cortland and James (Barb) A. Perry of Columbus, Ind.; one sister, Bertha (Paul) Richards of North Lima; one brother, Bill (Doris) Whan of Poland; seven grandchildren, Melissa Kochera, T.J., Jason, Tony, Bob, Curtis and Jon Perry and nine great-grandchildren.
Katherine was preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Whan and one sister, Eleanor Ralston.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2008, at the Mount Olivet United Church of Christ, with Rev. Melinda Q. Lacefield officiating.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday, July, 28, 2008.
Burial will be at Lake Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that material contributions be made to the youth fund at the Mount Olivet United Church of Christ.
