BOARDMAN – Elizabeth L. Newsome, 79, mother of seven, longtime nurse, and wife of deceased local physician Dr. Joseph V. Newsome, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, at the Hospice House.
We will all deeply miss this humble, religious, friendly, caring and dedicated mother, sister and friend.
The funeral for Mrs. Elizabeth L. Newsome will begin with prayer services at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Youngstown with the Rev. Msgr. Michael J Cariglio Jr. officiating.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Born Feb. 29, 1929 in Columbus, Elizabeth graduated from Mt. Carmel School of Nursing in 1949.
She was wed to the late Dr. Joseph V. Newsome of Youngstown in 1952.
Survivors include her seven children, Kathleen (Wilbur) Schneider of Columbia, Md., Michael (Julie) Newsome of West Bloomfield, Mich., Edward Newsome of Boardman, Joseph (Erin Moore) Newsome of Renfrew, Pa., Timothy (Tammy) Newsome of Hubbard, Kimberly (Steven) Evans of Dublin, and Paul (Elizabeth) Newsome of Marysville; her sister, Mary Jane (Jean) Maciejewski of Amanda; and her 13 grandchildren, Joseph, KC, Vincent, Elizabeth, Patrick, Taylor, Nicholas, Christopher, Nicole, Gina, Ashley, Jacob and Molly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her parents, Edward and Alvina Stecker, and her sister, Anne Skeele and brother, Paul Stecker, all of Columbus.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., Boardman, OH 44512.
