Harold R. Henderson, 84
NORTH BEAVER TOWNSHIP, PA. Harold R. Henderson, 84, was born June 5,1924 in Enon Valley, Pa., the son of the Late Charles and Jean Forsythe Henderson.
He died April 9, 2009, in the same home where he was born and raised, following a six month battle with cancer.
Harold was a minister of music for the Woodbury Presbyterian Church in Woodbury, N.J., for 32 years, an organist for the Boardman United Methodist Church for 15 Years and three years at the historic Lutheran Church of Saint John in Youngstown.
Harold graduated from Mt. Jackson High School, received his undergraduate degree from Columbia University in New York City, and his masters degree from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, N.J. He graduated from Eastman School of Music and he had also attended Juilliard School of Music in New York City.
Harold was a lifetime member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church, where he served as deacon and on various committees. He belonged to the North Beaver Garden Club and the Boardman Rotary. Harold had done extensive traveling and enjoyed all culture and art.
Harold was well known in the area for his musical talents and his teaching of the piano and organ. He enjoyed landscaping his home and maintaining beautiful rhododendrons, flowers and various plantings.
Arrangements are being handled by the Terry A. Cunningham Funeral Home, 203 Oak St. in Bessemer, Pa.
A memorial service will be at the Bethel Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2009, under the direction of the Rev. Dave Lingle.
Harold is survived by many friends, cousins and extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of the Bethel Presbyterian Church, 154 Petersburg Road, Enon Valley, PA 16120.
Harold was laid to rest in the family plot at Bethel Cemetery.
