Daniel Creatura, 66

AUSTINTOWN – Services will be at 6 p.m. Friday at the Schiavone Funeral Home for Daniel Creatura, 66, who died April 28, after a long illness.
Mr. Creatura was born Sept. 9, 1942 in Youngstown, a son of Daniel Sr. and Mary Scarpine Creatura.
He grew up in the Briar Hill community, where he served as an altar boy at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. He later moved with his family to Youngstown. He was a graduate of Chaney High School and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Mr. Creatura retired in 1989 from General Motors in Lordstown, where he was employed about 25 years. He enjoyed body-building and often ran the trails in Mill Creek Park. His favorite place to travel was to Niagra Falls.
Following retirement, he became a wood craftsman and artist, painting and making many gifts, such as clocks and wall-hangings for friends and family. He also studied horticulture and became a master gardener and a member of the Ohio Master Gardener Volunteer Program, serving the Canfield Fair and caring for plants and flowers at the fairground gardens. At home he nurtured many plants and flower gardens in the yard while keeping his dogs, Maxine and Honeybear, at his side.
Mr. Creatura leaves his wife, the former Louise Evich, whom he married Oct. 30, 1968; a daughter, Miss Deana Louise Creatura at home; a son, Adam Daniel (Aimee) Creatura of Howland; a grandson, Adam Jr.; two sisters, Maryann (Terry) Weinell of Wexford, Pa. and Bonnie (Wayne) Verdinek of Austintown; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, who are deceased, a brother, John P. Creatura, died on Jan. 15, 2008.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday, May 1, 2009, from 4 to 6 p.m.
