James Bert Harris, 78
PARIS TOWNSHIP James Bert Harris, 78, passed away peacefully at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at Kent Healthcare Center of natural causes.
He was born Oct. 23, 1930 in Warsaw, the son of the late Clarence Wesley and Hazel Leona (Sowers) Harris.
James graduated from Paris High School in 1948.
He married Mary L. (Gordon) Richards on Dec. 13, 1998 and she survives.
He had lived in Lake Milton for eight years, formerly of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., where he was a Librarian for Broward County Library for 20 years before retiring in 1996. He also worked at Singer Sewing Machine for a number of years. He attended the Wayland Community Church.
James enjoyed lifting weights, traveling, exercising, going to flea markets, bicycle riding and was an avid Bible reader. He also liked to play cards, board games and shooting pool.
Memories of James will be carried on by his loving family, his wife Mary; his daughters and sons-in-law, Norene and Eddie Timmons of Peyton, Colo. and Yvonne and Darryl Newman of Fate, Texas; his stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Sherie and Bernie Huth, Anita and Mike Stone and Renee and Brian Porter, all of Paris Township; his son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Mary Harris of Sunnyvale, Calif.; his son Timothy Harris of San Jose, Calif.; his stepson and daughter-in-law, Alan and Pam Richards of Long Beach, Calif.; his sisters, Mary Peshek of Austintown and Kathy Hawkins of Stow; his aunt, Maxine Corder of Ohio; nine grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Mark Harris; and one sister, Bernice Roberts.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Wayland Community Church at a later date and time.
Burial will be at Hawley Cemetery in Paris Township.
