Margaret Ann Laskowski

Love of her Life”
BAREFOOT BAY, FLA. – Margaret Ann Laskowski, formerly of LaClede Court in Youngstown, was born Aug. 20, 1924, a daughter of Frank F. Porter and Josephine Osolinski Porter.
On July 2, 2009 she died in Palm Bay, Fla. at her daughter’s home.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen (Phil) Genova and Ellen Linhart; three grandchildren, Rachel Chopp Townsend, Kevin Genova and Gregory Linhart; a great-grandchild, Caleb Townsend; and a brother, David J. Porter Sr. of Canfield.
Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Norman Sr.; a son, Norman Jr.; a brother, Frank Porter (Millie) Sr.; and a sister-and-brother in law, Mrs. Martha and Bruno Wanat.
During World War II, Peggy worked in the factories as one of the original “Rosie the Riveter.” She served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman First Valley Class from 1944 to 1946.
In 1980s, she was a bookkeeper at Mahoning Valley Distributing on Rush Boulevard.
Relocating to Barefoot Bay, in 1986 with Norman, the love of her life, she was employed for 22 years at the Barefoot Bay Beauty Shop, the last six years as Office Manager, retiring in October of 2008.
Peggy Laskowski was a graduate of Ursuline High School, a member of St. Stanislaw Church in Youngstown, until joining St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Palm Bay. She was an avid sports fan of Notre Dame, Pittsburgh Steelers and Cardinal Mooney High School.
A memorial Mass and reception was held a St. Luke’s Catholic Church on Friday, July 24, 2009, in Palm Bay.
