Marvin Marv W. James, 77
NORTH LIMA Marvin Marv W. James, 77, passed away at 12:15 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at the St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center from complications of a stroke.
Mr. James was born May 31, 1932 in Leavittsburg, the son of the late Orville and Thelma (DePriest) James.
Marv retired as a tire recapper from the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Youngstown after 20 years. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran during the Korean War era. Mr. James enjoyed reading, attending car shows and playing Wii bowling and pool.
Marv is survived by his beloved wife, Billie (Sheely) James of almost 53 years, whom he married on Aug. 18, 1956. He was the loving father of daughters, Dorothy James of Boardman and Robin James of Boardman; son, John (Kim) James of North Lima; stepson, Mark Harvey of Southington; and devoted and proud grandfather to Kelly (Cory) Husted, Jodi James, and Jordan James. He leaves a sister, Helen (Al) Grafe of New Philadelphia; sister, Ruthie Griffith of Mansfield; his best bud brother, Robert (Peg) James of Centreville, Md.; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends and car enthusiast buddies.
Mr. James was preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret; one brother, Thomas; one sister, Marjorie; and one stepson, Charles Harvey.
He also leaves his beloved pet, Daisy and cherished memories of Lucky and Cuddles, his special pals.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima with Rev. Melinda Q. Lacefield officiating. A military honors service will be conducted by American Legion Post No. 290 of Columbiana.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, and one hour prior to the service, both at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that material contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.
The family would like to express their appreciation and thanks for the fine care Marv received at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center and all his doctors and nurses during the course of his illness for the wonderful care they provided in recent and past years.
