James P. Devine, 81
HUBBARD Mr. James P. Devine, 81, died Tuesday morning, Oct. 13, 2009, at his residence.
He was born March 12, 1928 in Youngstown, a son of John J. and Florence Kritter Devine and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Devine was president of Devines Shop and Save for 52 years. He was a member of St. Patrick Church in Hubbard and the Knights of Columbus. James served with the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was a long time area grocer and an avid hunter and fisherman.
His wife, the former, Patricia A. Hurley, whom he married April 19, 1952, died July 23, 1996.
He leaves three sons, James P. Devine Jr., Dennis E. Devine and Ed F. (Diane) Devine, all of Hubbard; five daughters, Patricia Devine, Peggy Devine, Mary Jo (Walt) Shinosky, Nancy Devine and Betsy Devine, all of Hubbard; a sister, Mary Foley of Brea, Calif.; a brother in law, Francis (Mary) Hurley; and eight grandchildren, Kerry and Jimmy Devine, Sean and Patrick McCloskey, Brendan and Colin Shinosky, Catie Devine and Alexis Lawson. He also leaves his beloved Irish wolf hound, Molly.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Devine and a sister, Florence Gribbon.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:15 a.m. at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Church.
Family and friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
