Ethel Irene “Rennie” Walden, 79

YOUNGSTOWN – Services will be held at 10 a.m. at the Union Baptist Church on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, for Ethel Irene “Rennie” Walden, 79, who went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 11, 2009.
She was born March 1, 1930 in Richmond, Va., the second child to Abraham and Victoria Walden.
She retired from the Western Reserve Transit Authority, after 27 years of service.
Rennie was a lifelong member of the Union Baptist Church and a member of the Usher Board and Nurses Guild. She was also very giving to charities and her loved ones. She had a passion for western movies, and even named her second son, John Wayne.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Abram Jr.; and two sisters, Corneisha Jones and Delores Shannon.
Ethel leaves to cherish her memory her son, James of Arkon; two sisters, Leola Durant and Evelyn Bailey, both of Youngstown; and four brothers, Alvin (Jean), Freddie, David and LaFaye Walden. She also leaves three granddaughters and one grandson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and a best friend, Mamie “Ham”, whom she celebrated life with since they were 16 years old.
Viewing will be Friday from noon to 4 p.m. at the F.D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home.
Calling hours will be Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.
