Ruth Cook, 90
NORTON SHORES, MICH. Funeral services for Ruth Cook, 90, who died early Sunday morning at her Michigan residence, will be held at noon on Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Drive, Boardman. Ruth was formerly of Boardman, and of late resided in Seminole Shores Assisted Living in Norton Shores, Mich.
She was born Nov. 15, 1919 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late William and Pearl Abrahamson Hartill.
Ruth graduated from The Rayen School and had been a loan secretary for First Federal Savings & Loan (now First Place Bank) for 20 years, retiring in 1989. She had also worked part-time for Burklands Florist for many years.
Ruth was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Fortnightly III, the Irish Club, Salvation Army Auxiliary, National Red Hat Society, and the Royale Flames.
Her husband, John (Jack) Cook, whom she married Aug. 21, 1943, died May 2, 1969.
She leaves two daughters, Nancy (Bob) Garlough of Grand Rapids, Mich., Natalie (Jeff) Lawson of Tega Cay, S.C.; grandchildren, Jeff and Kristin Lawson, Chris Lawson and his fiancee, Missy Ruppert, Eric Lawson, Jon and Melissa Garlough, Jeremy Garlough and Elizabeth Rieck, and Kristen Garlough; and four great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Jane (Gene) Evans and Natalie (Richard) Hinely.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church.
