Helen Jean Repasky, 86
WILMINGTON Helen Jean Repasky, 86, died at 2:05 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at Clinton Memorial Hospital.
Her husband, Raymond G. Repasky, whom she married April 24, 1948, survives.
Mrs. Repasky was born Feb. 1, 1923 in Detroit, a daughter of the late Stanley and Ema Rugg Kowalski.
Mrs. Repasky received her nurses training in the Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II. While stationed at Crile Hospital in Cleveland, she met her husband, who was being treated following his return from military duty overseas.
In the 1960s, Mrs. Repasky was one of two nurses trained to oversee the first intensive care unit at Clinton Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Repasky retired from Clinton Memorial Hospital in 1983.
She was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church. She enjoyed all types of needlework and Polish cooking. She was an avid reader and loved animals. Mrs. Repasky always had a longing for knowledge. Consequently, she began taking computer classes in the 1970s. She was also trained in sign language.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Repasky is survived by two sons, Stan Repasky of Oklahoma and Ted (Crystal Taylor) Repasky of Oregon; two daughters, Fran (Kevin) Tucker of Blanchester and Teresa (John) Ghazoul M.D. of Norwalk; and eight grandchildren, Casey, Courtney, Carson, Cassidy, Erika, Anthony, Emily and Adam.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, 73 N. Mulberry St. in Wilmington, with the Rev. James M. Wedig officiating.
Burial will be at Sugar Grove Cemetery.
