Jeff Moore Sr., 78

YOUNGSTOWN – A funeral service will be at noon on Wednesday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church for Jeff Moore Sr., 78, who departed this life Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Mr. Moore was born Sept. 7, 1931 in Wilcox County, Ala., a son of Sam Wilcox and Louella Clark Moore.
He worked as a crane operator for Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co., a security guard for the Dialysis Center, and owner and operator of Som-More’s Carry-Out.
He was a Deacon and member of the Christian Love Baptist Church, a member of its choir, and worked in its food bank.
Mr. Moore was one of the founders of the Steel Valley Male Chorus.
He leaves his wife, the former Lizzie B. Brown, whom me married Dec. 17, 1956; children, Gary (Debbie Hooks) Gurley Moore of Austintown, Jeff (Estelle) Gurley Moore Jr. of Beaver Falls, Pa., Robinette Gurley Moore, Robert (Cherie) Moore, Angela, Sandra, Jimmy, Rhonda, Brian and Michael Moore, all of Youngstown; two sisters, Ruby D. (David) Boyd of Detroit and Annie Jane Riley of Mobile, Ala.; a brother, Benjamin Wilcox of Selma, Ala.; 45 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, a sister, Carrie Haynesworth; four brothers, Daniel DuBose and Robert, Manuel and Mose Moore; and two grandsons, preceded him in death.
Viewing will be today from noon to 4 p.m. at the F.D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home.
